Ferienzeit ist ja bekanntlich Turnierzeit – also nichts mit „Durchatmen bei der Nationalmannschaft“. Und so steht auch für Toni und sein Team weitaus mehr auf dem Plan als Hängematte und Osterferien. Erst geht’s gegen die Hertha – hoffentlich bringen sie nicht den hauseigenen Ultra Jacob Lundt mit – und danach geht’s mit dem Auto ab zum „Gelben U-Boot“ an die spanische Ostküste. Bei Felix ist es wiederum nicht weniger: Porto, Newcastle, Halbmarathon, Icon League Doppelspieltag, Wahl zum ekligsten Team-Head – da kann einem schon mal die Energie flöten gehen. Endlich mal wieder rauskommen – das hat sich vielleicht nicht Vielreiser Felix gedacht, aber der Rest des Luppen-Teams umso mehr, als es hieß: Derby-Time in Newcastle. Das roch nicht nur nach Luppen on Tour, sondern auch nach Pie, Chips und Bier. Da Toni und Felix mittlerweile waschechte Newcastle-United-Member – sogenannte Magpies – sind, war für uns schnell klar: Ein Abstecher zum legendären St. James’ Park steht an. Und gäbe es einen besseren Einstand als das berüchtigte Tyne-Wear-Derby? Eben. Weil Toni mit seiner Academy-Mannschaft leider selbst ein nicht ganz unwichtiges Spiel zu bestreiten hatte, mussten wir unsere Mikrokoffer also ohne ihn packen. Hatte aber auch Vorteile: So konnten wir uns etwas unauffälliger unter die Geordies mischen und neben der ein oder anderen Kaltschale auch ein paar warme Einblicke in die großen Herzen der Menschen gewinnen. Am Ende bleibt eine ernüchternde Niederlage – und trotzdem schöne Erinnerungen. Dass das nicht unser letzter Besuch in Newcastle bleiben würde, war uns ziemlich schnell klar.
